About Melanie Gordon
Melanie Gordon is a visual artist, photographer, and filmmaker whose work explores female identity, the connections between mothers and daughters, and the nature of belonging. Gordon is motivated by the absence of women’s voices in art, culture, and systems of power and seeks to challenge dominant patriarchal gender narratives.
Gordon’s work has been exhibited, published, and collected in Canada and internationally. She is grateful to have been awarded by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council. She lives in Toronto and is spending some time this year on sabbatical in Montana with her husband and two daughters..
Melanie will speak on her transformation through the self-doubt and imposter syndrome to owning her purpose as an artist who has something to express and contribute.
