scared no more
wisdom words
SCARED NO MORE
the mind is afraid to notice our growth
ancestral, evolutionary strains of survival
clenched with fists
keep us in fight, flight, freeze
what a trap
we shouldn’t let ourselves notice the growth
or else we’ll risk growing some more
and then be at greater risk of something happening
this moment in my life
the lockdowns, safety measures, high snow drifts, deep freeze
all feel like a straight jacket
i’m tight, hunched over, caved in
my mind brittle
at risk, suspect to something else going wrong
let not the fear of this moment
drive you into a further freeze
make space for space’s sake
put on your wool hat and two sweaters
go breathe the fresh air
it’s safe out there
stare at the moon tonight
let its glow carry you someplace
lay down your fearful arms
let your beloveds hold your full weight
the fear is only as real as we make it
only as real as the space we give it to fill
